Pauline “Polly†C. Arends age 93 of Ravenna, died Friday, October 30, 2009 at St. Ann’s in Grand Rapids, MI. with her family at her side. Pauline was born on February 7, 1916 in Conklin, Michigan to the late Charles and Anna (Host) May. Polly married the late Jerome Arends on November 8, 1939 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wright. Polly was a member of St. Catherines Parish, Alter Society & Catholic Daughters. She worked for S.D. Warren for 35 years. The family wishes to thank her care givers at St. Ann’s, particularly the staff of Joseph’s Haven. She is survived by 5 Sons: William (Nancy) Arends of Mt. Pleasant, Michael (Carol) Arends of Allendale, Donald (Pam) Arends of Fruitport, Steven (Kathy) Arends of Cadillac and Daniel (Lynne) Arends of Twin Lake. 2 Daughters: Anna Mae (Howard) Woodard of Ravenna and Mary Jane (Tim) Pearcy of Grand Rapids. 26 Grandchildren and 43 Great Grandchildren. 1 Brother: Carl (Eleanor) May of Comstock Park. 1 Sister: Freida Knauf of Conklin. 2 Sisters in-laws: Marcella Schneider of Grant and Evelyn May of Conklin. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents and husband Jerome by 5 Brothers: Edmund, Irvin, Harvey, Fritz and Alvin. 4 Sisters: Laurine, Lillian, Hazel and Rose. 2 Great Grandsons: Jarett Arends and Bernard Nutt. Mass from the Order of Christian funerals will be conducted on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 11:00am at St. Catherines Catholic Church with Father Phillip Sliwinski celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Catherines Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 2, 2009 at the Throop Funeral Home of Ravenna from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. A prayer service will be conducted at 3:00pm. The family will also greet friends at St. Catherines on Tuesday from 10:00am until time of service. Memorials may be directed to: St. Ann’s or St. Catherines Endowment Fund. Visit www.throopfhravenna.com to sign the guest book. Hello everyone: Bill called us this morning and told us of Aunt Polly's pasing. We send our deepest sympathy to all of you. We are in California visiting our daughter and her family.
