Jeanette and I were so sad to hear of Pastor Douglasss homegoing, but not for him, of course. We are thinking of you, Sharon, and the kids. Pastor Douglass was a very special man. We met him just as we were starting to raise our support to come to Togo, and from the beginning he was so encouraging and kind, especially during those early days of deputation when rejection is a constant reality. Over the years as we would return to visit Stryker he would have different Bible study helps to give me, many of which he had developed himself. I can still hear him chuckle, as he would do, finding humor in so many situations. So for the family left behind, we will be praying as we know that you must have a big empty place in your hearts.

Dear Douglass Family, I am so sorry to hear that Dan passed away. He was such a nice man to be neighbors with, and of course Ill never forget the time he called me when we first moved to the neighborhood to tell me to get the kids in the house because there was a cow loose. I thought he was making things up to tease me, we were in town after all, until I looked out the window and saw a man with a pitchfork running through my yard, and saw hoof prints when I went outside. That was the beginning of a good friendship that extended to our whole family, with my kids helping Dan and Sharon in the yard and around the house. I appreciate the truly loving pastors heart that Dan had, showing Gods love to everyone. The sparkle in his eye and that chuckle he had when he was just being DAN was contagious. I know he will be missed, but its wonderful to know he is in Gods presence now.
