Obituary

Teresa Geraldine Tensen, age 35 of Austin, Texas, formerly of Ravenna, died unexpectedly at home June 15, 2021 with her dog, Pixie, by her side. She was born June 5, 1986, in Grand Rapids to Nick Tensen and Anita Curtis-MacDonald and was a graduate of Kenowa Hills High School. She earned an associates degree from The Art Institute of Portland in Fashion Design. Teresa was a strong fighter. Last fall she underwent brain surgery to remove a large tumor, and several years ago had a tumor removed from her abdomen. She graduated from neuro-rehab this past Friday with excitement about her future. Teresa enjoyed writing, and loved to make others laugh. She had many friends throughout the years from all areas of the country. She is survived by her parents, Nick (Kathy) Tensen of Effingham, IL, and Anita (Heath) Curtis-MacDonald of Ravenna; siblings Audrey (Nick) Tipper and niece Linnea Tipper of Saint Johns, MI; Anne Woods of Los Angeles, CA, Nicholas Tensen VIII and Tory Tensen of Effingham, IL.; her very special dog, Pixie; aunts and uncles and their families: Margret (Rick) Kingsbury and Geraldine (Arden) Eadie of Conklin, Arend (Paula) of New Hampshire, Melissa (Jake) Dilts of Grant, Tony Curtis of New Mexico; great aunts and uncles: Bernice (Jerry) Kass of Kent City, Leona and Norma Doppenburg of South Dakota, and Janet Doppenburg of Washington State; Dick (Ellen) Tensen, Annie Giertsema, and Trudy Leegwater, and their families all of the Netherlands, Melvin Hinkley of Florida and family, great aunt Jewel Curtis from Arkansas; special friends from Texas: Dean Cleaver, Edward Garza and Katie Rodriguez. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Nick and Geraldine Tensen, Ray and Marlene Curtis, and her uncle Dale Link. Memorial services will be held Sunday, June 20, 1:00 p.m. at Heath and Anita’s home, 23760 36th Avenue, Ravenna. A second memorial service in Texas will be planned for a date later this summer. Memorials may be given to Texas Neuro Rehab.
