Lyle Hollis Mudgett passed away on July 22, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born in Muskegon, MI on November 12, 1938 to Donald C. Mudgett and Helen (Boutell) Mudgett. He lived in Ravenna, MI most of his life. He graduated from Ravenna High School in 1956. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He met his wife Mamie “Susie” (Huling) Mudgett while serving at Naval Air Station Jacksonville. They were married for 57 years. Lyle was a beloved husband and father who worked hard to provide and care for his family. A mission he accomplished very successfully and that is forever appreciated by his wife and children. He was a Master Electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over 50 years. He worked as an auto mechanic and in power line construction until he founded Michigan Electric, Inc. with his father in the mid 1960’s. He sold Michigan Electric in 1989 and he continued to work as an electrician until he retired in 2000. He was a member of the group that fundraised for and built Citizens Field in the late 1970s. He advised on the design and installed the electrical and lighting for the field. He was also an accomplished auto mechanic and working on cars was one of the many projects he pursued in his retirement. He was never without a project. He also enjoyed fishing, reading about World War II, watching westerns and war movies, and traveling with family and friends. He was a lifetime member of the Ravenna Masonic Lodge. Lyle is survived by his wife Susie and four children, Sharon Mudgett of Midland, Joni (Jim) Wagner of Ravenna, Donald Mudgett of Duluth, Georgia, and Scott Mudgett of Grand Rapids and three grandchildren, Rachel, Matthew, and Hannah Mudgett. They, along with dear friends and neighbors, will miss him very much. Lyle was predeceased by his parents, his sister Donna Chaney, daughter in law Patricia Dailey Mudgett, and infant daughter, Sue Ellen Mudgett. A Memorial gathering will be conducted on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Throop Funeral Home of Ravenna from 2:00 to 4:00pm. Burial will be at Ravenna Township Cemetery.
